What I Do For Fun

People often ask me what I do when I’m not in the office. What do I do for fun, to answer that question I need to go back a little bit. I grew up watching and playing sports; particularly basketball, football and baseball. San Diego Padres, Oakland A’s, San Diego Chargers when they were still around, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and the Orlando Magic were my teams. Sports has always been a way for me to connect with my family members and friends. Sports and athletics has the ability to provide many life lessons, such as hard work, dedication, and consistency will pay off. In high school I started wrestling and as a result began lifting weights too. Post college I started to get into boxing and rock climbing. What I love about boxing and rock climbing is that there is a lot of technique and strategy. Your footwork dictates how you move in both sports. How you attack your opponent or how you attack a certain route will vary from person to person. I enjoy traveling and hiking too. Our world is not meant to simply stay inside the house or building. My definition of living my best life involves me doing something active.

I also like to learn and read. Going back to elementary school, I loved reading biographies and books on history. Recall reading the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th grade. Books or video documentaries on athletes and historical figures have always fascinated me. I just love learning about how people think and how they overcame adversity. Travel and food shows are my favorite. One of my top shows of all time were Anthony Bourdain’s travel shows.

I also enjoy reading about bio hacking and how the body works. Because I grew up being active, I was always fascinated with how the human body worked. The idea of homeostasis and the body doing things with a purpose all made sense to me. Chronic pain, think of it as the check engine light in your car.. that pain is trying to tell you that something is not right. You can ignore it with pain medication, try stretching it out, or you can get to the root cause of the problem.

Why do I write this? People want to do business with individuals they know and like. I understand I can’t help everyone and my mission isn’t to help everyone. I want to help people that want the help. I love working with people who like being active. Who enjoy sports. People that love to learn and value relationships. I love what I do as a chiropractor, I love helping people have more fun. When people are having more fun, enjoying life, they have a bigger impact on the world.
